What personal data we collect and why we collect it 

The following information is collected.  

Log Information

DaftScribe follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and it is a part of hosting services’ analytics. 

The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. 

These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.

Cookies and Web Beacons

Like any other website, DaftScribe uses ‘cookies’. These cookies are used to store information including visitors’ preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. 

The information is used to optimise the users’ experience by customising our web page content based on visitors’ browser type and/or other information. You can find the cookie policy here

Google Double Click DART Cookie

Google is one of a third-party vendor on our site. It also uses cookies, known as DART cookies, to serve ads to our site visitors based upon their visit to www.daftscribe.com and other sites on the internet. 

However, visitors may choose to decline the use of DART cookies by visiting the Google ad and content network Privacy Policy.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Our Advertising Partners

Third-party ad servers or ad networks uses technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons that are used in their respective advertisements and links that appear on DaftScribe, which are sent directly to users’ browser. 

They automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. These technologies are used to measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns and/or to personalise the advertising content that you see on websites that you visit.

Note that DaftScribe has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.

Email Subscription

Mailerlite is the third party email provider that I use to manage my email subscriber list and send emails to subscribers. Mailerlite as a third-party provider may use your data to monitor and improve my email services. You may access their privacy policy here

You have the right to unsubscribe from my newsletter at any time. To do this simply click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the newsletter. You also have the option to have your information forgotten and/or deleted by emailing me to request this at karen@daftscribe.com

 I do not sell your information to ANY third party. I also only use your information for the reason you consented to when signing up for my newsletter.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymous string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravitar service to see if you are using it. Gravitar service Privacy Policy is available here After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact Form

I use WP Forms lite for my contact form. WP Forms lite does not collect any ‘hidden’ details about users who submit a form (IP address, user agent details etc) and also doesn’t use any cookies. Additionally WP Forms Lite doesn’t track, monitor or collect form entries in any way. 

Children’s Privacy

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

DaftScribe does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

Third-Party Links

Our site may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our site. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to personalise the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

How your information may be used

I may use information about you to: 

  • Send regular emails providing and promoting our products and services.
  • Send the weekly newsletter containing the latest blog posts, tips, and other useful information.

  • To provide and maintain the site

How your information is protected

We do our best to keep your personal data safe using safe protocols for communication and transferring data (such as HTTPS and SSL Certificate) However no method of transmission via the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore although we take every available precaution we cannot guarantee absolute security. 

How long we retain your information

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
